2007 "Old Grads" Picinc a Success!
This The Annual Picnic of The Vernonia Society, V.H.S. “Old Grads”, and Oregon American Alumni was held on August 19th at Anderson Park. Thankfully, the rain held off for most of the event. There were approximately 145 people in attendance.

Prizes were presented to Warren Aldrich for the oldest man as well as the oldest Vernonia High School graduate; Elenore Thompson and Cookie Polos for the oldest women; and Margaret Aldrich for the furthest traveler, having arrived from Florida.

The planning committee for this event is often asked why they don’t have a combined gathering for “all” of the graduates of Vernonia High School. It seems as though many of the younger generations are turned away by the terms “Old Timer’s Picnic” or “Old Grads” as it has become known. However, the organizers want all grads to know this annual event is for everyone that ever attended school or lived in Vernonia, and their families. Younger folks are urged to attend. The picnic is always held on the 3rd Sunday in August, so mark your calendars now.

Where: Anderson Park, Vernonia, Oregon
Additional Information: Please come and bring your friends and a picnic lunch. Coffee and cups will be provided. Hot dogs and drinks will be for sale.
